Weekly Totals 10/23

This week I got the closest to my goal of only spending $50.00 a week on groceries and health and beauty items.  I probably would have made it, but I did get some extras like chocolate milk and diapers for an upcoming baby shower.  So all in all, I'm feeling pretty good about my purchases this week.  OH! And I almost forgot to share my great news!  I opened my mailbox yesterday to find a $100 gift card to Publix!  Isn't that exciting?  I entered a drawing over the summer and had totally forgotten about it!  What a nice surprise! Food Lion Deals 10/21 to 10/27 **updated**

Well, I have 1 Turkey Token so far and I'm trying to get my 6 tokens so I get a $20 credit at Food Lion.  You only have to spend $45 before coupons 6 out of 8 specified weeks and I think I might be able to make it work again this week.  The goal is to spend as little as possible, still spend $45 before coupons, and get your Turkey Token.
Wish me good luck!

**I learned a good lessson today at Food Lion: You can only use 1 specific FLIP per transaction. Example: I bought (2) small pkgs of Huggies diapers on close out for $3.49ea.  I wanted to use (2) $1.50 Huggies qs and (2) $1.50 FLIPs.  I could only use 1 of the FLIPs.  At least at my store, the register would only accept 1 of these.  If I wanted to use both, I needed to do a seperate transaction for one of the pkgs of diapers.  No biggie! $1.99 was still a good price to pay for a baby gift!

Side bar: If you haven't shopped at the Food Lion on College Park rd by Stratford High School, I highly recommend it.  Every time I go, all the associates are friendly and super helpful!Coupon Rules:

1) You do need your MVP card, try to remember it before your items are scanned.
2) You do need to buy both items to get the BOGO price, each item is priced at half off.
3) You can stack a FLIP (Food Lion Internet Print) with a Manufacturer coupon.

Save the Earth and Your $$$ Using Reusable Shopping Bags!

We have all stocked up on FREE reusable shopping bags at Publix lately, so now don't forget them when you go to Target!  Why?  Because you will save $.05 for each bag you bring!  No kidding!  I read on other blogs about shoppers already receiving this discount in other parts of the country and was waiting patiently for our stores to start (cricket, cricket..).  Well, it's finally here!  After I looked over my receipt from the Summerville store, I saw a note at the bottom reminding me to bring my reusable bags next time.  Check your local stores to see if they are set up now to give this discount.  If your store has the reusable bags next to the plastic bags in the cashier's bagging area, chances are you are good to go!  Don't forget, only a friendly reminder is in order if you don't notice your discount being applied.  With the holidays around the corner, try to be extra nice and friendly to your cashiers.  Kill 'em with kindness!
